| Michelle
trained at Middlesex University and Memphis State
University, gaining her BA Honours degree in Performing
Arts in 1994. In London, she was taught and directed
by teachers from Rambert Dance Company, The Royal
Ballet and London Contemporary Dance company including
Christopher Bannerman, Sally Estep-Bhuller, Mark Baldwin,
Ashley Page, Ian Spink, Lynn Seymour and Siobhan Davies.
In Memphis, Michelle was taught by Rudi Gardner who
features in the film 'Tap' starring Gregory Hines
and undertook African Dance Workshops with Arthur
Hall founder of the Philadelphia African Dance Company.
Michelle continued with her teaching studies at Chelsea
school, University of Brighton completing her PGCE
in Dance in 1995. In the same year, Michelle was appointed
teacher of dance at the BRIT School for Performing
Arts and Technology teaching Ballet, Contemporary,
Jazz and Tap Dance in 1998. From August 1997, Michelle
has attended The Centre for Performing Arts where
she has been successful in achieving her Associates
and Associates diploma within the Modern Theatre Dance
Faculty. She has taught pupils who have achieved places
at notorious dance institutions such as Rambert Dance
School, Laine Theatre Arts, Bird College, and who
have appeared in many West End Musicals in addition
to Theatre, Television and Commercial work. Students
such as Lynden David Hall and Dane Bowers have gone
on to achieve notable success in the pop industry.
Michelle has completed various professional work herself
in pantomimes, dancing at The Place Theatre, London
with I - Catching Dance Company and leading promotional
dance exhibitions for Sky Television including the
Reach for The Sky project and Pop 2000 at The NEC
in Birmingham. Having gained many excellent contacts
over the years with professional dance and musical
theatre artists, Michelle is extremely excited about
being given the opportunity as Director of Dance to
raise the profile of dance at Brighton College through
the Dancecenter.
